Lady Hornets fall to Line Mountain in D4 quarterfinals

The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team suffered a 52-23 loss to second-seeded Line Mountain in the PIAA District IV Class AAA quarterfinals on Friday, February 25.

The Lady Hornets fell behind 19-4 after the first quarter and were held to just 9 points in the first half and were unable to dig themselves out of the hole.

Freshman Paige Logsdon led Wellsboro with 8 points, senior Emma Coolidge and freshman Chloe Brandenburg scored 5 points each, sophomore Maddy Mascho and freshman Raegan Watkins-Bourret added 2 points each, and senior Emma Brandenburg rounded out the scoring with 1 point.

The loss also ends the careers of seniors Emma Coolidge and Emma Brandenburg. Coolidge led the Lady Hornets with 245 points on the year and 656 for her career. Brandenburg was 5th in scoring with 52 points on the season and finished with 110 for her career.

Wellsboro finishes the season with an 11-11 record. Line Mountain advances to the semi-finals and will face Towanda.
