The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team suffered a 60-21 loss to Towanda on the road on Tuesday, February 8.
The Lady Hornets' offense struggled all night as Towanda held them to just 7 points in the first half then went on to outscore them 29-14, 20 of those points coming in the third quarter, to roll to the win. Towanda also clinched the NTL Large School Division crown.
Senior Emma Coolidge had 9 points to lead Wellsboro, freshman Chloe Brandenburg scored 6, and junior Ella Posada, sophomore Emily Richardson, and freshman Paige Logsdon all added 2 points each.
The Lady Knights got 25 points from Paige Manchester and 20 out of Porschia Bennett.
Wellsboro won the JV game 24-10 to start off the evening. Richardson led the Lady Hornets with 5 points and Morris, sophomore Olivia Chilson, and junior Hailie Kerr also added 4 points apiece.
The loss drops Wellsboro's record to 8-10 (7-6 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action for Senior Night on Thursday, February 10 against North Penn-Mansfield.
