The Wellsboro Junior High Baseball team defeated Troy and Williamson in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 30.
Against Troy the Hornets won 7-4. Wellsboro scored 3 runs in the top of the 1st to take an early lead, only to have the Trojans tie the game in 4th. Wellsboro then scored 4 runs in the 6th to retake the lead, and hold on for the win. Wellsboro had 9 hits in the game, led by Marek Mascho with 3, Dylan Copp with 2, and solo hits by Cameron Owlett, Gavyn Jelliff, Drayden McGee, and Coen Tennis. One of Copp's hits was a triple and Tennis hit a double.
Against Williamson, Wellsboro won 7-3 after jumping out to an early 5-0 lead after 2 innings. Jacob Smith, Syler Pietrzyk, Garrett Kaltenbach, Ethan Keane, and Dylan Tomlinson each had solo hits with Kaltenbach and Smith driving in 2 runs each.
The wins improve the Hornets' record to 9-0-1. The team is back in action on Saturday, May 7 against Cowanesque Valley.
