The Wellsboro Boys Cross Country team split with Troy and Sullivan County while the Girls team dropped both during their final home meet on Tuesday, October 11.
Wellsboro beat Sullivan County 18-37 while they fell 19-40 to Troy. Troy also beat Sullivan County 15-48. In the girls meet Troy swept both Wellsboro (13-23) and Sullivan County (20-35). Sullivan County topped the Lady Hornets 16-20.
Freshman Max Macias and sophomore Chris Greenawalt were the top two finishers for the Hornets, finishing in 4th and 5th, respectively. Macias ran 21:39 and Greenawalt was right behind in 21:40. Freshman Henry Whitney was 8th in 23:17 and freshman Robbie Bowers (25:03) was 12th.
In the girls race, senior Madeline Gage finished 2nd overall in 23:40. Senior Julia DeCamp was 8th in 28:28 and sophomore Karah Blackwell finished 11th in 31:07.
In the junior high meets the young Lady Hornets swept their race, winning 19-37 over Sullivan County and 15-35 against Troy. The boys fell to Troy 22-36 and 20-41 against Sullivan County. Michael Knefly took home the top spot in 11:03, Lauren Kosek (12:05) was 3rd, and Isla Twoey (12:30) was 4th.
The Hornet Varsity teams will be back in action this Saturday at the NTL Coaches Invite.
