The Wellsboro Middle School Soccer team beat Williamson 1-0 to pick up their second win of the season on Saturday, September 18.
The Hornets' goal was scored at 7:41 in the first half. A Jude Cuneo shot was blocked by the Williamson keeper, which found Jonathan Carl as he crashed the net for the putback.
Hornet goalie Camden Tom made 5 saves to record a clean sheet and earn the shutout win.
"Our team played with heart and never slowed down the entire match," head coach Derek Stevens said after the game. "The score does not reflect the amount of effort that these players put forth, the only issue we had all game was getting the ball past their keeper."
Wellsboro also won the B game, coming home with a 3-1 victory behind two John McConaghy goals and a third by Max Macias with .08 seconds remaining.
The young Hornets (2-0) are back in action at home against Athens on Tuesday, September 21.
