The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team dropped their 6th contest of the season in a 44-33 loss on the road in Athens on Thursday, February 11.
The game was close early on as the Lady Hornets trailed by a point, 13-12, but an 11-5 second quarter in favor of the Lady Wildcats gave them a 24-17 advantage at the half that Wellsboro was unable to recover from.
Kayleigh Miller (20) and Caydence Macik (18) led all scorers on the evening.
Junior Emma Coolidge led the Lady Hornets with 10 points, senior Bailey Monks scored 8, senior Kiyah Boyce added 7, senior Sarah Mosher finished with 6, and senior Kathryn Burnett rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
In the JV game Wellsboro fell to Athens 28-14. Freshman Emily Morris led the way with 7 points.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 3-6 (2-6 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action a week from yesterday at North Penn-Liberty on February 18.
