Canton defeated Galeton 3-2 to claim their 5th straight NTL volleyball District IV, Class A title. Galeton won the first set 25-20, but Canton won the next two 25-23, and 25-18.
The Tigers took the fourth 25-21, with Canton winning the fifth 15-13.
The team won despite missing senior Trisha Gilbert, who was quarantined due to a close contact.
"They wanted to win, and wanted to win for their teammate," said Canton coach Sheila Wesneski. "We found out basically yesterday that one of our seniors was quarantined, and we wanted to get so she could come back and play, so she could finish her senior year."
Aislyn Williams had 16 points, eight aces, 14 kills, three assists, 18 digs, and three blocks, while also getting the match winning kill.
Allyson Butcher had 12 points, two aces, 39 assists, and 11 digs, while Jillaney Hartford had 10 kills, one assist, and two blocks.
Keri Wesneski notched 12 points, three aces, seven kills, and 10 digs, Mae Kinner had 15 points, five kills, and 15 digs, Marissa Ostrander notched nine points, three aces, two kills, and 17 digs, and Rachel Martin had 15 points, eight aces, nine kills, one assist, and eight digs.
