SELINSGROVE - A hot-shooting second quarter propelled Selinsgrove to a 50-31 victory over Montoursville in a Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference-crossover matchup.
The victory qualifies Selinsgrove (10-12) for the District 11 Class 5A playoffs by virtue of the Seals .500 record against HAC foes.
Montoursville led by eight after one quarter, but Lexy Gabrielson knocked down three 3-pointers, while Veronica Stanford hit two 3s to combine for 15 of Selinsgrove's 20 points in the second quarter. The outburst gave Selinsgrove a 29-16 lead at halftime.
The Seals defense did the rest of the work, limiting Montoursville to just six field goals in the final three quarters.
Gabrielson led the Seals with 13 points, while Cierra Adams added 12 points and Avery DeFazio chipped in 11 points.
