The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team's season came to an end to rival North Penn-Liberty after a 3-1 loss in the District IV Class AA championship game at Williamson High School on Thursday, November 5.
The Lady Mounties took the first set 25-16, but then the Lady Hornets rallied in the second after trailing midway through to win 27-25 to even the game up at a set each.
Liberty went on to take the next two sets, along with the game, with a 25-19 win in the third set and a 25-21 win in the fourth set.
"We really though we had a shot at it this year," head coach Sharon Zuchowski said. "The girls never gave up, they worked hard, and it's not the ending we wanted but we went to the bitter end with them."
Wellsboro finishes with an 11-5 overall record and 10-4 in the NTL Large School Division.
