The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team erased a three-game losing streak as they rolled past Meadowbrook Christian on Monday, January 6.
"It was a good team win. The effort stayed strong the entire game. It was nice to give everyone some floor time," said head coach Steve Adams.
Wellsboro started out with an early 20-5 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back as they got back over the .500 mark on the season.
Junior Joseph Grab led all scorers with 36 points, freshman Conner Adams scored 10 points, sophomores Isaac Keane and Liam Manning finished with 8 points each, sophomore Darryn Callahan added 5 points, senior Daniel Mitchell pitched in 4 points, and senior Karter Witmer rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
Callahan grabbed 6 rebounds, Keane added 6 steals and 5 rebounds, Adams had 4 rebounds and 4 assists, and Grab added 2 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists. Mitchell made 3 assists and seniors Ty Morral and Carson Davis both pulled down 3 rebounds.
The Hornets started out the night with a 49-12 win in the JV game, ending a 4-game skid. Freshman Cameron Brought led Wellsboro with 11 points and freshman Spencer Wetzel added 10.
The win improves the Hornets to 6-5 (3-2 NTL Large School Division). The team returns to NTL play on Wednesday, January 8 when they host Sayre.
