MANSFIELD – The East kept it close for a half but the West's size proved too much as they went on to win 77-53 in the boys' NTL Senior All-Star game Monday.
It was 34-30 West in the first half as the two teams went back and forth. In the second half, though, the West's big men of NP-Mansfields Dylan Meyer, Wellsboro's Brandyn Tuttle and NP-Liberty’s Logan Horsley helped them pull away.
Meyer finished with 15 points, six boards, two blocks and an assist, Tuttle came close to a double-double with 11 points, nine boards, three assists and a steal and Horsley chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.
Also for the West Wellsboro's Andrew Brelo had 12 points, four rebounds and two steals, NP-Mansfield's Sawyer Freeman finished with eight points, three boards and a steal, NPL's Brandyn Choplosky added four points, three rebounds and three assists, Wellsboro's Hunter Brown had four points and two rebounds, CV's Tyler Vargeson added three points, a rebound and two steals, Williamson's Tanner Adriance finished with two points, three boards and a steal and Hornet Holden Kennedy had three points, three rebounds, two assists and a block.
NP-Mansfield's Brent Burleigh and Jayden Andrews only had two points apiece but they had impacts outside of the scoring.
Andrews finished with five rebounds, five assists and five steals while Burleigh added four boards, two blocks, two assists and one steal.
NPL's Nick Grinnell added three boards.
Troy's Seldon Rogers led the East with 10 points, six rebounds, five steals and an assist with Canton's Michael Smithers adding nine points and seven boards.
Athens' Aric Westbrook added eight points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal, Towanda's Quadir Brice had eight points, two rebounds and two steals, NEB's Spencer Jackson netted six points and three boards, Towanda's Dylan Hartmann came away with five points, six rebounds and two steals, NEB's Zak Smith added three points, three boards, two steals and two assists with teammates Brady Hopkins and Will Ostrander netting two points each.
Hopkins also had a block and a rebound with Ostrander getting two boards, a block and a steal.
Towanda's Brodie Johnson came away with three boards, Wyalusing's Ryan Armitage had two boards and two steals and Black Knight Josh Varner chipped in with two rebounds.
