The Wellsboro Varsity Softball team suffered their first loss of the season to Jersey Shore on Saturday, April 6.
Jersey Shore shut out Wellsboro 13-0 in six innings.
The Lady Hornets struggled at the plate as they were held to just two hits on the afternoon, one by junior Cathryn Brought and the other by senior Hailey Neal, in 19 at bats.
Brought and sophomore Kerrah Clymer both pitched on the afternoon with Brought taking the loss. Clymer gave up 5 runs (all earned) on 5 hits in one inning of work while Brought pitched 5 innings and allowed 8 runs (5 earned) on 5 hits to go with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the NTL Large School Division standings. The team will be back in action tomorrow afternoon on the road against Troy.
