The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team rebounded following a loss to Athens by shutting out rival North Penn-Mansfield 7-0 on Thursday, September 20.

After 34 minutes of scoreless play the Lady Hornets took the lead as senior Emma Poirier cleaned up a missed shot by sophomore Kerrah Clymer. The rest of the half was scoreless but Wellsboro then turned up the pressure in the second half.

Just over a minute into the second half senior Elizabeth Macias converted a Poirier corner kick to put Wellsboro up 2-0 before Clymer found the back of the net on a breakaway goal with 27:04 remaining. Sophomore Jena Boyce increased the Lady Hornets' lead to 4-0 off a Poirier assist with 23:56 left. Five minutes later Poirier scored her second goal of the game on a penalty kick to make it 5-0.

Wellsboro's final two goals were scored by Macias (Boyce assist) and Boyce (Poirier assist). Macias' second goal came with 15:46 remaining and Boyce scored with 6:12 left on the clock.
