The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team dropped their fourth straight game as they fell to Troy 3-1 on Saturday, October 6.
Nicole McClellan scored a pair of goals in the first half for Troy to give them an early lead. Her first came with 31:55 left on the clock and the second was with 25.16 remaining.
Wellsboro cut the lead in half three minutes into the second half. Sophomore Jena Boyce crossed the ball but a Troy defender kicked the ball into their net resulting in an own goal.
Both teams were scoreless until under the 5 minute mark when Morgan Graybill scored unassisted to make it 3-1.
Troy outshot Wellsboro 12-6 and had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman Lilly Abadi made made 7 saves in goal for Wellsboro while Brianna Rathbun stopped 1 shot for Troy.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-1 on goals by junior Savana Baltzley and sophomore Madelyn Rudy. The JV team is now 5-6.
The loss in the Varsity game drops the Lady Hornets to 6-7 (6-4 NTL). The team will be back in action on Monday, October 8 against Williamson.
