Hornets bring home two 2nd place finishes at Wyaluing quad-meet

The Wellsboro Track teams both brought home second place finishes in an NTL quad-meet at Wyalusing on Wednesday, April 18.

In the girls meet the Lady Hornets scored 67 points to finish behind Troy (127) and ahead of Wyalusing (55) and Northern Tioga (27).

Senior Kaitlyne Kramer (8-ft) was 2nd in the pole vault, sophomore Caitlyn Callahan (13.65) was 2nd in the 100m with fellow sophomore Megan Starkweather (14.47) in 5th. Senior Grace Heckman (19.52) was th in the 100m hurdles, senior Abby Feil (63-ft, 5) was 4th in the discus, junior Rachel Chamberlain (3:25.51) was 5th in the 800m, Callahan (4-ft, 6) was 2nd in the high jump, and senior Rebecca Janelli (20-ft, 7) was 10th in the shot put.

Sophomore Savana Baltzley (57.97) was 3rd in the 300m hurdles and 5th in the 200m (30.56), senior Anna Bleggi (6:24.7) and junior Elizabeth Macias (6:27.9) were 2nd and 3rd in the 1600m, Macias was 2nd in the 3200m (13:51.6), junior Dahlia Hosey (33-ft, 8) won both the triple jump and the long jump (15-ft, 11), sophomore Alex Chilson (1:14.45) was 3rd in the 400m, and senior Grace Feil (79-ft, 6) and sophomore Lauren Singer (79-ft, 2) were 3rd and 4th in the javelin.

Wellsboro took 2nd in the 4x400m relay (4:53.3), 2nd in the 4x800m relay (12:06.6), and won the 4x100m relay (53.57).

"We are still working at finding the right events for the athletes," said girls head coach Elizabeth Hoover. "Tonight we put girls in events they had never been in and they did very well! I think, if the sun ever comes out, we will see some great times and distances!"

In the boys meet, Wyalusing claimed the top spot with 127 points, followed by Wellsboro (84), Northern Tioga (48), and Troy (40).

Sophomore Clayton Orsborn, senior Devin Webster, and sophomore Connor Ramsey were 2nd-4th in the pole vault (8-ft, 6) while junior Brett Rudy (12.02), senior Alex Kozuhowski (12.03), and sophomore Aidan Hauser (12.04) swept the 100m. Junior Hunter Brown (110-ft, 1) was 3rd in the discus and 5th in the shot put (34-ft, 11), sophomore Alex Burrell (18.35) won the 110m hurdles, and junior Aidan Perry (2:27.5) was 5th in the 800m and 4th in the 1600m (5:12.5).

Sophomore Frank Kewitt and junior Holden Kennedy were 3rd and 4th in the high jump (5-ft, 2), sophomore Brennan Warner (46.77) won the 300m hurdles, junior Bergen Weiner (36-ft, 11) was 4th in the triple jump with sophomore Karter Witmer (36-ft, 4) and Kewitt (35-ft, 8) in 5th and 6th, Rudy won the 400m (57.59), Kozuhowski (23.81) won the 200m, Hauser (19-ft, 7.5) won the long jump, and Brown (128-ft, 7) and sophomore Austin Richards (124-ft, 7) were 2nd and 4th in the javelin.

The Hornets were 4th (4:01.4) and 5th (4:13.2) in the 4x400m and 3rd in the 4x800m (9:40.8).

The Hornets are back in action this afternoon for their first home meet of the season against Northern Tioga.
