The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team suffered a 6-0 loss at the hands of Williamsport on Wednesday, September 27. The loss is the second straight for the Lady Hornets.
Williamsport scored three goals in each half. Samantha Reeder scored 11 minutes into the game then Katie Penman scored back-to-back goals in the 17th and 26th minute to put the Lady Millionaires up 3-0 at the break. Reeder scored a minute into the second half to increase the score to 4-0. Goals by Madison Bowman and Kathryn Schefsky in the 57th and 73rd minutes brought the game to a close.
Wellsboro was held to just 3 total shot attempts, two by junior Emma Poirier and one by senior Alyssa Yungwirth. Senior Sydney Tremper recorded 15 saves in goal during the game while Williamsport's Lila Vogelsong made 2 saves.
Williamsport also won the JV game 4-0.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets' to 4-3 (4-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Friday, September 29 against Athens.
