Two days after playing to a 2-2 draw, Athens and Wellsboro boys soccer teams picked up NTL wins on Thursday, September 7.
Athens' Ethan Lane had a hat trick for the Wildcats in their win Thursday. Brad Cardona also scored. A.J. Lehman scored for Northern Potter to avoid a shutout.
Tanner Runyan and Kaeden Mann each scored two goals in the Green Hornets win. Mann scored with 33:56 remaining, Runyan then scored back-to-back goals. The first came at 23:51 off a Gabe Leach corner kick, then with 14:39 on throw-in by Nic Ingerick to make it 3-0 Hornets.
Leach put Wellsboro up 4-0 on a free kick with 25:32 remaining before Galeton's Joel Griffen score the Tigers' only goal to make it 4-1 at 22:19.
Wellsboro's final two goals came from Mann on an assist from Runyan with 21:25 left, and then by Noah Fitch with 1:19 on a Johnny Rowland assist.
Towanda dropped a non-league game to Elk Lake. Noah Cusatis scored for Elk Lake.
Sam VanDermark scored in the second minute off a Jordan Rockwell assist for a 1-0 lead. Rockwell scored his first in the 12th minute off a Sam Wheeler assist for a 2-0 halftime lead. Wheeler scored his first of the season in the 12th minute of the second half off Rockwell's second assist. 45 seconds later Rockwell scored off of a give and go with Wheeler. Kaden Murray scored troys only goal of the game in the 16th minute on a penalty kick.
Troy out shot Sayre 14-8 on the game. Troy took 12 corners and Sayre only took one. Josh Nowacoski made 4 saves for Troy and Camden Wheeler had 13 for Sayre.
Sayre plays next at Elk Lake Saturday morning at 10:00 am.
Simon Fish and Andrew Learn each had four goals for Williamson in their win over Liberty. Andrew Gililand had a hat trick for Liberty.
