Northern Tier League volleyball kicked into high gear as teams began their season on Tuesday, September 5 with three teams earning sweeps.
Sam Proseus had 18 points, 8 kills, 8 dighs and 8 aces for Canton; Caitlyn Pepper had 20 assists and 11 digs; Hailey Wesneski had 8 points for Canton and Ellie Binford had 13 digs. For Athens, Amelia Martin had 15 points, 14 assists and 11 digs; Cassidy Stackpole had 7 digs; Sydney Liechty & Elly Shaff had six blocks each for Athens.
Cassie Shedden had 13 points, 10 assists and 8 kills for Troy; Emilie Cole had 10 digs and 7 points; Caitlin DeLosa had 8 kills; Mallori Morse had 9 assists & Savannah Sakosky had 9 digs.
Mariah Kshir socred 15 points and had 11 assists in the Lady Mounties' sweep of Williamson. JoAnne McNamara had 21 assists, Brooke Harvey & Maddison Minyo had nine points each, and Charisma Grega had 10 kills.
Madigan Allen had 13 points, 13 kills and 13 digs for the Black Knights; Rachael Bair had 16 points & 15 digs; Justine Vargason had 8 points, 8 assists, 9 digs; Madi Doss had 35 digs; Sydney Schoonover had 11 kills; Reagan Hill had 13 digs, and Blair Wood had 8 kills.
For Sayre, Lexi Post had 27 assists and a dig, Julia Boyle had 11 kills, and Miranda Tappen had 2 blocks.
Karlye Huffman had 1 kill, 15 assists, and 5 aces; Kristie Epler recorded 9 aces; Melody Kneller had 6 kills and 4 aces; and Makayla Voda made 7 kills.
Wellsboro won the first set 25-12 and the second 25-21 before NEB won the third 26-24 to force a fourth set. Wellsboro prevailed 26-24 in the fourth for their first win.
