Sullivan Co girls soccer topes Wyalusing; Wellsboro, Athens boys win big

Two Sullivan County players recorded hat tricks in the Lady Griffins' 10-3 win over Wyalusing on Thursday, Septebmer 14 while the Athens Wildcats and Wellsboro Green Hornets won big in boys soccer action.

Sullivan County 10, Wyalusing 3

Macy McCarthy scored 4 goals and had 1 assist and Madison Burke had a hat trick. Sophia Springman netted 2 goals and Bethany Beinlich scored 1 goal and added 3 assists. Kyleigh Ammerman, Stefanie Kramer, and Savannah Baldwin also added one assist each. Wyalusing got two goals from Sarah Bird and one from Marissa Kusmierz.

Sullivan County's McKenna Ammer made 6 saves and Samantha Skoranski made 4.

Boys Soccer

Wellsboro 11, Sayre 0

The Hornets scored 8 first half goals in their 4th win of the season. Kaeden Mann had his first career hat trick, Noah Fitch and Tanner Runyan both scored twice, and Gabe Leach, Cam Tennis, Conrad Becker, and Johnny Rowland all added single goals. Mann, Runyan (2), Devin Webster, Leach (4), and Becker all had assists.

Wellsboro's Nate Redell made 3 saves and Sayre's Camden Wheeler had 16 saves.

Athens 15, North Penn-Liberty 1

The Wildcats scored 11 second half goals in their NTL win on Thursday afternoon. Ethan Lane, Willey Tilley, David Sheftic, and Doug Vosburg all scored in the first half to make it 4-0 at the break. Liberty's Luke Yoder scored at 29:42 of the second half on a Nathaniel Johnson assist to cut into the score, but the Wildcats took over and put the game out of reach.

Sheftic, Ethan Lane, Gavin Stein, Arvid Johnson, Nathan Aquilio, Tilley, and Aaron Lane all scored for Athens in the second half.

Liberty's Riley Walker stopped 12 shots and Athens' Braden Priester made 1 save.
