The Wellsboro Middle School Girls Basketball team dropped their third straight game in a 20-19 loss to North Penn-Liberty on Wednesday, March 1.
The young Lady Hornets were leading 4-1 after the first quarter but the Mounties rallied to take a 10-8 lead at the half and kept their lead at 14-10 after the third quarter. Wellsboro had a shot at the end but failed to complete to comeback.
"We came out flat tonight and we never really got in a rhythm with 26 turnovers and 9-for-44 shooting," said head coach Darrell Morris. "Our girls got some good game experience at the end being down six with under 30 seconds left and almost coming back. We have to give Liberty credit because they played well and deserved to win."
Bailey Monks and Emma Coolidge had 4 points each, Kathryn Burnett had 3 points, and Jena Boyce, Kiyah Boyce, Chelsie English, and Sarah Mosher had 2 points each.
Wellsboro's B Team won 21-9. Emma Coolidge had 7 points, Kathryn Burnett had 6 points, Lindsey Marmara had 4 points. Abbye Cavanaugh and Emma Brandenburg had 2 points each.
The loss drops the A team to 7-8. The team will be back in action on the road on Friday, March 3 at Williamson.
