An 11-point first quarter gave the Wellsboro Middle School Boys Basketball team a 30-9 win over Towanda on Monday, February 6.
The Hornets gave up 2 points in each of the first two quarters and led 19-4 at the half. Wellsboro held Towanda scoreless in the third quarter and outscored them 11-5 in the half for the win.
"I was't pleased with the way we ran our offense tonight but was extremely pleased with us shooting 8-10 from the foul line," said head coach Jason Greenfield. "Defensively we gave up some easy buckets and we need to box out better."
Joseph Grab and Nevin DeCosta each scored 8 points, Will Poirier had 7, Zach Singer had 3, and Darryn Callahan and Isaac Keane pitched in 2 points each. Grab and Callahan grabbed 4 rebounds each, DeCosta had 6 steals while Keane had 3 rebounds. Grab, Poirier, and Liam Manning all recorded assists.
Towanda won the B team game 14-13 on a last second shot. Manning had 8 points on the night.
The A team win improves the Hornets' record to 4-1. The team will be back in action at home against Canton on Wednesday, February 8.
