The Wellsboro Golf Team finished 4 strokes behind Northern Tioga to finish 2nd at Tioga Country Club in Nichols, New York on Monday, September 18.
Northern Tioga shot 345 to edge Wellsboro (349) for the win. Sayre (356) was 3rd, Towanda (357) was 4th, Athens (385) was 5th, and North Penn-Mansfield (388) was 6th.
Junior Ben Barnett and Sayre's Ryan Murrelle both shot rounds of 79 to tie for the top spot. Junior Brandyn Tuttle shot an 86 to tie for 5th overall. Sophomore Ty Morral finished with 90, junior Taynton Repard had a 94, freshman Brock Hamblin shot 96, and sophomore Joseph Propheta finished with a round of 105.
The Hornets improve to 21-5 (20-5 NTL) on the year after their fifth consecutive 2nd place finish. The team will be back in action on Thursday, September 21 at White Deer Country Club.
