The Wellsboro Boys Soccer team's magical season came to an end in the PIAA quarterfinals to Masterman on Saturday, November 11.
Masterman took the lead midway throug the first half on a Kingsley goal but he Hornets answered right back. With senior Gabe Leach attempting a corner kick, senior Johnny Rowland headed in the attempt to tie it at 1-1 with 18:19 remaining.
The score remained tied until 12:06 of the second half as Kingsley again scored, making it 2-1.
Despite being out-shot 24-7, Masterman held on for the win, ending Wellsboro's season at 20-2-1.
Wellsboro also had a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks and junior Nate Redell made two saves.
The loss ends the careers of seniors Leach, Noah Fitch, Brandon Plume, Tanner Runyan, Devin Webster, Ryan Stough, Nolan Lohr, Nic Ingerick, and Rowland.
Runyan ends the season with 29 goals scored and 59 for his career, the second most in the Wellsboro Boys Soccer record books. He also added 15 assists and was 5-for-5 in penalty kicks. Fitch scored 21 goals (22 career) and had 11 assists this season, Rowland had 13 goals in his first season playing, and Lohr scored 5 goals.
Ingerick scored 2 career goals and had 10 career assists, Webster had 2 goals and 6 assists for his career, and Leach finished his career with 17 career goals and 55 career assists. Stough finished with 1 career assist.
