A day after winning their first match of the year, the Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team suffered a 58-12 loss to Lewisburg on Friday, January 6.
The Hornets won three matches during the bout. Freshman Aidan Hauser scored a 9-4 decision over Ronald Lentz at 138 lbs., senior Caleb Sinkler pinned Aaron Strosser in 1:59 at 145 lbs., and sophomore Robert Brown won a 9-4 decision against Lance Klinefelter at 285 lbs.
Lewisburg's Broghan Persun pinned freshman Connor Ramsey in 3:02 at 132 lbs., Chase Prutzman won a 12-2 major decision against sophomore Jared Moreno at 160 lbs., Dakotah Snyder pinned sophomore Hunter Brown in 1:55 at 195 lbs., and Hunter Murphy pinned senior Kaleb Smith in 3:58 at 220 lbs.
Lewisburg closed out the match with forfeits at 170, 182, 106, 113, 120, and 126.
The loss drops the Hornets' record to 1-5 (1-3 NTL). The team is at the Coudersport Invite today and travels to Wyalusing on Tuesday, January 10.
