Members of the Wellsboro Boys Tennis team competed at the District IV Doubles Championships at Williamsport Area High School on Monday, May 15.
In the first round the team of juniors Noah Fitch and Gabe Leach beat Jacob Mouery and Kyler Balliet of Shikellamy 7-5, 6-2. The team of juniors Tanner Runyan and Ryan Stough lost to the #4 seed team of Casey Haas and Liviu Reynolds of Montoursville 6-4, 6-3.
In the second round, Fitch and Leach lost to Galeton's Evan Griffen and Cooper Sunderlin 6-2, 6-0.
"The boys played very well and went deep into every game; many of the games were decided after going to deuce," said head coach Margery Hoffman. "It was a pleasure to watch both of our doubles teams play and each displayed true sportsmanship and character throughout the morning."
