Four NTL golfers finished in the top 5 on the first day of the District IV Golf Tournament at Williamsport Country Club on Thursday, October 5.

Northern Tioga's Tanner Adriance leads after day one with a round of 75 followed by Wellsboro's Ben Barnett in 2nd with a 76. Northern Tioga's Austin Outman tied for 3rd with a 78 and Sayre's Ryan Murrelle, last year's District Champion, shot an 80 to round out the top 5.

"My chipping and putting were really good to start off," Murrelle said. "Ball striking was really good today. I'm anxious to see what they have for us Saturday. I feel fine. It was just stupid mistakes today, but I can bounce back Saturday.

Adriance was pleased with his perfomance to start the tournament.

"I hit a lot of fairways in the beginning," Adriance said. "I just want to keep it simple and try not to do too much. I just want to play the safe spots on the green and two-putt. I don't want to make any big numbers."

Lourdes Regional won the overall AA boys championship, as both they and Northern Tioga, shot 345. Lourdes edged Northern Tioga on a tiebreaker. Wellsboro was 3rd with 351 and Sayre shot 400 to finish 8th.

Benton (352) was 4th, Midd-West (358) was 5th, Danville (367) was 6th, Central Columbia (376) was 7th, Lewisburg (402) was 9th, East Juniata (403) was 10th, and Montgomery/Muncy (404) was 11th.

Lewisburg won the AA girls championship with a scored of 377. Towanda's Kourtney Dunn, the NTL's only female golfer to qualify for the tournament, finished 3rd overall with a round of 97 that included a birdie, 2 pars, and 6 bogies.

Selinsgrove won the AAA boys champship as they beat Shikellamy 376-407. Athens' Nate Kennedy was the lone NTL golfer in the AAA field and shot 84 to finish 3rd and advance to day two of competition.
