The Wellsboro Middle School Football team capped off their season with a 20-0 win at North Penn-Mansfield on Tuesday, November 1. The win brought the team's final record to 4-4 for the year.

Wellsboro would receive the opening drive and move the ball to the North Penn 5-yard line. The offense wasn't able to punch it in and North Penn took over possession. The Hornets defense started its stifling night with a three and out, forcing the punt.

The offense once again had the ball in the red zone, but was unable to capitalize on the field position. The first quarter would end with the score 0-0.

In the second quarter, Isaac Keane would intercept a North Penn pass to give Wellsboro possession of the ball. Alex Moore would take a third down run 55 yards for the game's opening score. The Hornets would not convert their two-point attempt, making the game 6-0 Wellsboro. Both teams would exchange possessions to bring the game to the half.

Brock Hamblin would intercept the ball to open the third quarter. The Hornets would capitalize, as the offensive line opened up a hole for Alex Moore to get his second touchdown of the day. The conversion would fail, making the score 12-0.

North Penn would put together a drive, that would end as Alex Moore intercepted a pass. The offense would go three and out and North Penn would get a hand on the punt, giving them good field position. The Hornets defense remained stout, forcing a three and out.

The offense would overcome numerous holding penalties to sustain the drive that led into the fourth quarter. The drive was capped off by a Keane touchdown pass to Travis Winters. Keane keep the ball for the conversion, making the score 20-0 Wellsboro.

"This was a good win to bring us to .500 for the year," remarked head coach Shane Mascho. "There are a couple of games we came up just short, so their improvement as a team was great. I was happy with our intensity on defense. We had a good game plan going into the game and the guys executed it well. I hope to see all of these guys out in the future because they are on the cusp of being another great team to keep the tradition we have going in Wellsboro right now."
