The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team completed the season sweep of North Penn-Liberty with a 3-1 win on Thursday, October 20.
All four sets of the match were extremely close. Wellsboro won the first 25-22 and the second 25-21. North Penn-Liberty won the third 27-25 to force a fourth set, which the Lady Hornets won 25-22.
Seniors Kirsten Florio and Morgan Florio both had 15 kills on the night, junior Cheyenne Sherman scored 11 points and had an ace, junior Brianne Keane scored 10 points with an ace, Kirsten Florio had 8 solo blocks, and sophomore Heidi Zuchowski added 4 solo blocks.
Sherman led the team with 25 digs, Keane had 16, Kirsten Florio had 13, and junior Sydney Tremper added 10. Keane also added 33 assists.
In the JV game, the Lady Hornets remained undefeated with a 2-1 win. Wellsboro lost the first set 25-21 but rebounded to win the second set 25-21 and held on for a 16-14 third set score. The JV team is now 20-0 on the year.
The win improves the Varsity team's record to 12-8. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, October 26 for Senior Night against Coudersport.
