The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team lost their fifth straight game as they fell to Sayre on Saturday, October 8.
The Lady Hornets' offense was shut down by Sayre's defense, but managed a goal by senior Kelsey Logan, on their only shot attempt of the game, with 4:12 remaining in the second half to avoid being shut out.
Sayre scored early and often in the first half, putting up 4 goals. Chloe Tracy scored not even two minutes into the game to make it 1-0, then Stephanie Klovekorn scored at 31:20 to make it 2-0. Anna Moliski increased Sayre's lead to 3-0 with 11:33 and Jennifer Shaffer capped the 4-0 first half with 8:12 remaining on a Tracy assist.
Madisyn Wheeler (15:26) and Tracy (12:23) scored Sayre's goals in the second half before Logan scored on a penalty kick for her 2nd goal of the season and 20th of her career.
Sayre outshot Wellsboro 18-1 and had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. Both teams committed 3 fouls and junior Kailee Clymer made 12 saves in goal.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets' record to 4-9-1 (4-5-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Monday, October 11 at North Penn-Mansfield.
