A second half goal sent the Athens Lady Wildcats home with a 1-0 win over Wellsboro on Monday, September 26.
The teams played to a scoreless tie until Athens' Emily Lunger scored with 33:56 remaining in the second half for the game's only goal. Athens took 30 shots on goal during the contest and Wellsboro junior Kailee Clymer stopped 29 of them.
The Lady Hornets had a hard time navigating the Wildcat defense as they were unable to attempt any shots on goal. Athens also had a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Athens also won the JV game 3-0.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 4-6 (4-3 NTL). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 28 for a 7:00 p.m. game with Williamsport at the Balls Mills Complex.
