Both Wellsboro Boys Tennis doubles teams fell in the opening rounds of District IV Doubles at the West Branch Tennis Club on Monday, May 16.
The team of sophomores Ryan Stough and Tanner Runyan lost to Muncy 1 10-3 in the preliminary round, while the team of senior Tyler Kennedy and freshman Nate Redell fell to Bloomsburg 1 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round.
"Our teams played very well under windy, cold conditions," said head coach Margery Hoffman. "I was pleased that they played their best, and both matches were fun to watch. There were many long points and close games. All four represented Wellsboro very well.
"Several of the coaches commented on their overall sportsmanship and fairness in line calls. We lose Tyler to graduation this month, but I look forward to the others returning next year."
