The Towanda Black Knights secured a 52-12 win over Wellsboro to start the NTL regular season on Tuesday, December 13.
Towanda scored 6 forfeits, and won all 4 matches on the night. Keegan Kisner scored a 13-2 major decision over freshman Aidan Hauser at 145, Logan Johnson picked up a 4-0 decision over Caleb Sinkler at 152, Joe Koss pinned Brennan Catherman at 182, and Seth Johnson won a close 2-0 decision over Hunter Brown at 195.
Wellsboro's two wins came by forfeit from sophomore Robert Brown at 220 and senior Kaleb Smith at 285.
"Towanda is a real tough team and we were down on team members. We only had 6 guys tonight," said head coach Scott Ingerick. "We thought we had a chance to win a couple of the matches tonight as individuals, unfortunately it didn't go our way."
The Hornets (0-1, 0-1 NTL) will be back in action on Thursday, December 15 at home against Troy.
