The Wellsboro Cross Country teams started their season with solid performances at the Lasagna Invite on Thursday, September 10 in Wyalusing.
The Varsity girls team finished 3rd (79) behind Northeast Bradford (51) and Canton (54). Sophomore Anna Bleggi got off to a fast start with a 3rd place finish in 20:20 to lead the Lady Hornets. Senior Camryn Keane (22:42) was 14th, freshman Taylor Romania (23:07) was 18th, freshman Zoe Iseri (23:37) was 22nd, senior Samantha Bailey (24:12) was 26th, senior Jordyn Coffee (24:31) was 28th, freshman Kara Doane (25:37) was 43rd, freshman Rachel Chamberlain (26:10) was 45th, freshman Dani Hunt (26:40) was 50th, and freshman Brooke Unangst (27:38) was 61st.
The Varsity boys team came home in tied for place with 100 points. Freshman Aidan Perry led the group with an 8th place finish at 18:04. Junior Alden Weiner was 19th (18:49), junior Bryon Callahan came home 27th (19:25), sophomore Connor Brought (19:27) was 29th, freshman Bergen Weiner (19:41) was 31st, freshman Zach Busch (20:29) was 45th, sophomore Kyle Wilson (21:25) was 59th, sophomore Logan Morral (22:54) was 72nd, freshman Taylor Wheeler (23:56) was 82nd, and sophomore Noah Smith (31:49) was 93rd.
In the Middle School races the Wellsboro boys finished 2nd (67) and the girls came home 3rd (67). Austin Richards (10:25) won the meet for the boys and Jaime Palmer (12:52) came home in 4th place for the girls.
The teams will be back in action on Tuesday, September 15 as they travel to Athens to take on the Wildcats and Sayre.
