Junior Rich Tardieu qualified for the PIAA State Track and Field Meet on Saturday at the District IV Championships at Athens on Saturday, May 16.
Tardieu finished 2nd in the triple jump behind Sayre's Joey Galizia at 42 ft 4.5 in to automatically qualify for next week's state meet.
Senior Michael Pietropola finished 7th in the 100m (11.49) and Tardieu was 16th (11.89), Senior Brieux Thibaut (23.3) was 5th in the 200m, Senior Kieron Smethers (53.95) was 13th in the 400m, and Senior Jack Chambers was 14th in the 110m hurdles (17.34) and 7th in the 300m hurdles (42.48).
The 4x100m team of Senior Nick Marple, Smethers, Tardieu, and Pietropola finished 5th (44.80) and narrowly missed the state qualifying time of 44.31. Marple tied for 4th in the high jump (5 ft 10 in) and Smethers and Tardieu tied for 13th (5 ft 6 in), and Thibaut (39 ft) was 11th in the triple jump.
Overall the Hornets finished in 14th place with 24 team points.
