MS Volleyball tops Troy in last home match

The Wellsboro Middle School Volleyball team won their ninth game of the year as they beat Troy 2-1 on Wednesday, October 14.

The A-team won 17-25, 25-7, and 15-11.

"Both teams had a successful night against Troy," said head coach Jen Outman. "With this week being spirit/homecoming week and tonight being the last home match and 8th grade/parent recognition night, it was even more important to come out with a win. The girls exhibited teamwork and spirit, representing their school well."

Caitlyn Callahan (9 serves, 7 points, with 1 ace) and Cathryn Brought (8 serves, 7 points, with 3 aces) led the team in serves.

"We had an effective night of serving," continued Outman. "All players that went back behind the service line contributed to the team’s victory."

Ryann Adams (4) and Megan Starkweather (2) led the team in spikes. Several ladies contributed to setting: Cathryn Brought (4 sets, 2 assists); Megan Starkweather (4 sets, 2 assists); Liza Manning (3 sets, 1 assist); and Skylar Runyan (1 assist).

The B-team won 26-24, 16-25, and 15-7. Olivia Crocco (7), Chelsie English (7), and Abigail Colton led the team in serving, Chelsie English (2) and Ella Brill (1) led in sets, and Ashayla Faulkner and Alina Pretrzyk worked really hard to get their passes to the setter.

The win improves the team's record to 9-2. The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 17 as Williamson.
