The Wellsboro Middle School Boys Basketball team picked up their first win of the year as they defeated Troy 35-31 on Friday, February 20.
Wellsboro started off trailing 12-7 after the first quarter, but outscored Troy 10-5 in the second quarter to tie the game at 17-17 at halftime. Wellsboro pulled ahead 29-24 after the third quarter, and then held on for the win.
Brandyn Tuttle led the Hornets with 11 points and Holden Kennedy had 10 on the night.
"I was pleased by the team effort," said head coach Ed Hamm. "Everyone is playing hard and giving their best effort."
In the B game, the Hornets won 35-18.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 1-1. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, February 24 as they travel to Coudersport.
