The Wellsboro Middle School Boys Basketball team recorded their first shut out of the season with a 42-0 win over Liberty on Friday, March 27.

The Hornets led 10-0 after the first quarter, and 20-0 going into the half. In the third quarter the boys scored 14 more points before cruising in the final frame for the victory.

"I was pleased with our defensive pressure tonight," said head coach Ed Hamm. "The boys were unselfish on the offensive side and moved the ball to take high percentage shots."

Brandyn Tuttle led the charge with eight points on the night, followed by six points each from Ben Barnett, Isaac Bechtel, and Holden Kennedy. Billy Lechler and Bergen Weiner scored four points each, while Carson Davis, Taynton Repard, Andrew Brelo, and Cameron Tennis all pitched in two points.

The B team didn't have the same luck that the A team did on the night, as they lost 18-16 in overtime. Dylan Tomb, Frankie Rexford, and Adam Osborn all had four points in the game.

With the win, the Hornets improve to 8-5. The team will be back in action today as they participate in the Galeton tournament.
