The Wellsboro Middle School Boys Basketball team had their five-game win streak snapped in a 32-23 loss to Mansfield on Monday, March 23.
The Hornets never held a lead as Mansfield led 12-8 after the first quarter, 18-12 at halftime, and 26-19 heading into the fourth quarter.
"We need to do a better job at limiting our turnovers and boxing out every time if we want to have a chance at beating Mansfield at home," said head coach Ed Hamm. "We lost to a good team that plays solid defense. The boys played hard tonight, unfortunately we struggled to make some of the shots that we normally make."
Holden Kennedy led the way for Wellsboro with seven points and two steals. Andrew Brelo scored six points and Taynton Repard had four. Tanner Button, Bergen Weiner, and Cameron Tennis all scored two points each and Brandyn Tuttle grabbed six rebounds.
In the B Team game, the Hornets lost 27-26. Carson Davis and Karter Witmer each scored six points in the loss.
The Hornets are now 7-5. The team will be back in action on Friday, March 27 as they host Liberty.
