The Wellsboro Middle School Boys Basketball team lost 43-30 to Danville on Saturday, February 28 to end the Williamsport tournament.
Danville's size and experience was too much for the Hornets on Saturday. The one loss Ironmen featured starting forwards with heights of 6-4 and 6-5. While the Hornets played smart against Danville, it was evident that Danville's size altered the shots Wellsboro was taking inside.
Danville jumped out to a 19-8 first quarter lead and extended it to 30-14 at halftime. Wellsboro made up some ground in the third quarter, as they closed the gap to 39-26 but couldn't overcome the difference in the final frame.
Taynton Repard had 10 points to lead the Hornets in the game. Andrew Brelo and Brandyn Tuttle each scored five points each, Aidan Perry had four, Holden Kennedy pitched in three, Tanner Button had two, and Karter Witmer rounded out the scoring with a point.
The loss drops the Hornets to 2-4. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, March 4 as they host Towanda.
