The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team shutout Mansfield 7-0 in their final regular season game on Saturday, October 24.
The Lady Hornets started early as senior Sarah Ingerick scored just 3:49 into the game to give Wellsboro an early 1-0 lead. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Lady Hornets at the half, but the girls turned up the pressure in the second half and scored six goals.
Senior Brynn Ripley scored two goals in the second half, the first one at 43:17 and the second at 78:00, freshman Julia Smith scored at 44:29, freshman Emma Poirier scored 10 minutes later at 54:41, senior Shayna Cornell scored at 58:18, and junior Kelsey Logan scored at 78:00.
Ripley, senior Samantha Young, and sophomore Alyssa Yungwirth all had assists on the night and sophomore Kailee Clymer made 5 saves in goal.
The JV team also won on the day, as they beat Mansfield 6-1 to finish their season 4-5-4. Freshmen Dahlia Hosey (2), Alivia Kennedy (2), Ellie Marcias, and Kabrie Karschner all scored during the game.
The win improves the Lady Hornets record to 10-6-2 (9-3-2 NTL). The team will now await their seeding in District IV playoffs.
