The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team finished the week 1-2 as they lost 44-38 to Northeast Bradford on Saturday, January 17.
The Lady Hornets kept it close early as they trailed by two at 13-11 after the first quarter. Wellsboro would score another 11 points in the second to NEB's 15 to trail 28-22 at halftime. Wellsboro would find themselves down 38-29 at the end of the third quarter and would make up a little ground in the fourth, but would never get past the six point hurdle.
Junior Sarah Ingerick led the Hornets with 17 points and three steals, Senior Jordan Butters had seven points and five rebounds, Junior Alexa Singer scored four, Senior Peyton Wilson and Freshman Lizzie Poirier each had three points, and Freshman Rachael Tuttle and Sophomore Janessa Davis rounded out the scoring with two points.
Tuttle led the team with seven rebounds on the night, and Davis, Wilson, and Singer all had two assists.
The Wellsboro JV team won another close game by the final score of 29-28. Poirier had 11 points in the win to improve the team's record to 8-2.
With the loss, the Varsity team falls to 7-6 (2-2 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Monday, January 19 as they travel to Wyalusing.
