The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team finished out a tough week with a 63-36 loss to Mifflinburg on Saturday, January 24.
Nothing went right for the Lady Hornets on the afternoon as they quickly fell behind 15-6 after the first quarter. Mifflinburg exploded in the second quarter with 21 points to put the game out of reach as they led 36-14 at halftime. Mifflinburg would outscore Wellsboro 27-22 in the second half to drop the visiting team to 1-3 on the week.
Junior Alexa Singer led two Lady Hornets in double figures with 13 points. Junior Sarah Ingerick scored 10, Freshman Lizzie Poirier finished with five points, Junior Jada Jackson had four, and Sophomore Janessa Davis and Freshman Rachael Tuttle each scored two points.
The Lady Hornets won the JV game 40-37 to improve to 11-3. Poirier led the team with 22 points in the game.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 8-9 (2-4 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, January 27 as they host Troy.
