The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team scored 45 first half points to cruise to a 70-22 victory over Troy on Thursday, December 17.
The Lady Hornets got a quick start to the night and outscored Troy 23-7 in the first quarter, behind 12 points from senior Jada Jackson. Wellsboro then put up 22 more points in the second to Troy's 4 to take a commanding 45-11 halftime lead. Wellsboro then outscored Troy 25-11 in the second half to pick up their fifth straight win since dropping the opening game of the Muncy Rotary Tournament.
Jackson finished with a team-high 18 points and senior Sarah Ingerick added 13. Sophomore Lizzie Poirier had 8 points, junior Jessica Grab added six points, and junior Autum Kitajima pitched in five. Rounding out the scoring on the night were senior Alexa Singer, junior Janessa Davis, sophomore Rachael Tuttle, and freshmen Emma Poirier and Julia Smith with four points each.
The JV team also improved to 5-1 on the year with a 38-15 victory. Emma Poirier led the Hornets with 13 points and Smith had 12.
The Varsity team improves to 5-1 with the win and will return to action on Saturday, December 19 when they host Wyalusing.
