Lady Hornets 2nd at Molly Dry, Boys 9th

The Wellsboro Track teams competed at the Molly Dry Invite at Mansfield University on Friday, April 10.
The girls team took home second place with 96 points behind Athens. In the 100m Junior Jada Jackson was 2nd (12.87) and Senior Lauren Bleggi was 4th (13.27). Bleggi took home 4th in the 200m (29.02) followed by Junior Lindsey Graver in 7th (29.09). Graver also placed 9th in the 400m (1:08.67).
Senior Annie Sweeney was 11th in the 800m (2:51.62), Junior Camryn Keane was 15th in the 1600m (6:30.26), and Sophomore Janessa Davis was 5th in the 3200m (13:25.33) followed closely by teammate Freshman Anna Bleggi in 6th (13:32.52). Junior Haley Zuchowski placed 4th in the 100m hurdles (17.35) and 4th in the 300m hurdles (52.31).
Wellsboro's 4x100m relay team of Bleggi, Jackson, Graver, and Junior Raisa Rogers took home the top spot in 53.24, the 4x400m relay team of Senior Caitlynn Butler, Junior Emma Eccher, Rogers, and Junior Hannah Guindon was 9th (4:54.87), and the 4x800m team of Butler, Keane, Davis, and Sweeney was 3rd at 11:13.19.
Rogers (4' 8") and Junior Mikayla Feil (4' 8") finished 2nd and 3rd in the high jump, Junior Joey Taft was 6th in the pole vault (8'), Graver was 4th in the long jump (16' 3.5") with teammate Bleggi 6th (15' 4"), and Jackson won the triple jump (36' 2"). In the throwing events, Jackson was 3rd in the shot put (31' 7"), Sophomore Hannah Lawton was 7th in the discus (81' 4.5"), and Sophomore Samantha Spurgeon was 10th in the javelin (83' 3.5").
On the boys side, the Hornets took home 9th place with 38 points. Senior Michael Pietropola finished 4th in the 100m (11.63), Senior Kieron Smethers was 7th in the 200m (24.67) and 2nd in the 400m (54.88). Junior Isaac Leach was 14th in the 800m (2:23.65), 11th in the 1600m (5:14.96), and 17th in the 3200m (12:30.13).
Senior Jack Chambers was 5th in the 110m hurdles (17.95) and 2nd in the 300m hurdles (44.13), and Junior James Mundy was 13th in the 2000m steeplechase (9:09.94), and the 4x100m relay team of Senior Nick Marple, Pietropola, Smethers, and Sophomore Brandon Lamphier finished 4th (47.45).
Marple took home 6th in the high jump (5' 6"), Sophomore Jacob Singer was 18th in the long jump (17' 4"), Junior Rich Tardieu was 6th in the triple jump (37' 1.5"), Senior Jonas Benner was 12th in the shot put (37' 4.5") and was 21st in the discus (89' 7"), and Lamphier was 14th in the javelin (113' 9.5").
Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, April 14th as they travel to Wyalusing.
