A home run from Junior Sarah Ingerick was the only run the Wellsboro Varsity Softball team needed to beat Williamson 1-0 on Wednesday, May 13.
The Lady Hornets struggled at the plate as they managed only four hits, but Ingerick provided the game's only run in the fourth inning. Ingerick was 1-for-2 at the plate with a run scored and RBI, Junior Alexa Singer was 1-for-3, Junior Jenny Young was 1-for-2 with a triple, and Junior Darci Warriner was 1-for-2 with a double.
Freshman Alyssa Yungwirth picked up her seventh win of the year as she pitched a complete, one-hit game. The Freshman struck out 11 of the 26 batters she faced on the night while only allowing two walks on 89 pitches.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 17-2. The team will be in action in their final regular season game on Friday, May 15 as they travel to South Williamsport.
