The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team finished in 8th place in their first action of the 2015 season on Saturday, December 5 at the St. Mary's Tournament.
Six Hornets competed in the tournament, with sophomore Nick Ingerick having the best day in the 285 lb. weight class. Ingerick went 2-2 in his four matches, pinning Oswayo Valley's Micahel VanDergrift twice. Freshmen Hunter Brown, Robert Brown, and Brennan Catherman also won matches on the day.
Hunter Brown went 1-3 and pinned Claysburg-Kimmel's Caleb Sell at 170 lbs., Robert Brown won a 9-6 decision against Cameron County's Nate Munsell at 195 lbs., and Catherman earned at win at 160 lbs.
The Hornets start their regular season tomorrow on the road at Northeast Bradford.
