The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team dropped their third match of the season as they lost 66-12 to Lewisburg on Friday, January 2.
Sophomore Kaleb Smith got the Hornets' first win of the match, after giving up four forfeits in the 160 to 195 lb. weight classes, as he pinned Lance Klinefetter in 1:46. Junior Owen Covert lost by pin in 3:28 to Jonathon Ward at 285 lbs. and then the Green Dragons picked up three more forfeits before Jordan Gessner pinned Freshman Cory Busch in 43 seconds at 126 lbs.
Junior Tyler Evans lost a 4-2 decision to Chase Prutzman at 132 lbs. Sophomore Blaze Coolidge picked up a forfeit for the only other Hornet victory at 138 lbs. Junior Vincent DeRita was pinned by Skyler Anderson in 1:19, and Senior Jack Chambers lost a 9-2 decision against Trey Delbaugh at 152 lbs. to end the match.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 0-3 (0-2 NTL). The team will be back in action today as they participate in the Coudersport Duals.
