The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team won their final game of the regular season by edging Liberty 3-2 on Tuesday, October 27.
Liberty won the first set 27-25 and Wellsboro won the second and third sets 25-22 and 25-18. Liberty bounced back to take the fourth set 28-26, but Wellsboro won the fifth and final set 15-11 to take the match.
Junior Kirsten Florio had 23 kills, senior Darci Warriner had 13 kills, and junior Morgan Florio had 12 kills. Morgan Florio had 20 assists, senior Maddy Kyle had 15 and sophomore Brianne Keane had 12. Senior Haley Zuchowski led the team with 13 points, Morgan Florio had 12 points, and Keane scored 8 points (3 aces).
Senior Hannah Wagaman made 28 digs, Warriner pitched in with 18, and Zuchowski recorded 14. Kirsten Florio and senior Mikayla Feil also added three blocks each on the night.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-1 (25-18, 25-27, 15-9) to finish the year at 13-5.
With the win, the Lady Hornets finish the regular season at 16-2 (9-2 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action in District IV playoffs with a time, location, and opponent to be determined.
