The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team tied Troy on Wendesday, September 30 on the road.
Senior Tucker Worthington scored the Hornets' only goal of the game with 23:30 remaining in the first half off a direct kick that was deflected into Troy's goal to put the Hornets up 1-0. Troy then tied it up with 17:29 left in the half. From there on out, it was a defensive struggle as neither team was able find the net to end the match in a draw.
"The game was a real battle. To Troy's credit they were well organized and really bunkered in," said head coach John Shaffer. "After taking the lead we gave up a sloppy counter goal. In the 2nd half and overtime we controlled the game and created a couple great chances, but failed to convert. On the positive side we are still undefeated and our goals are still very much in sight."
The Hornets are now 9-0-1 (6-0-1 NTL) on the year. The team will be back in action on Saturday, October 3 as they host Northern Potter.
