The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team picked up their fourth straight win with a 51-14 victory over Williamson on Thursday, December 12.
The Lady Hornets held Williamson to only six first quarter points and one point for the entire second half. This marks the Lady Hornets' third straight win by holding their opponent to under 20 points.
Senior Jada Jackson led the Lady Hornets with 15 points on the night, with 10 of them coming in the second quarter. She also had eight steals and seven rebounds. Senior Sarah Ingerick dropped 14 points, including shooting 6-for-8 from the foul line. Ingerick now has 838 career points and is 162 away from 1,000.
Junior Jessica Grab and sophomore Lizzie Poirier each pitched in with seven points, junior Janessa Davis had three points, junior Autum Kitajima and freshman Julia Smith scored two, and senior Alexa Singer rounded out the scoring with a point. Smith grabbed eight rebounds to lead the team and Ingerick also added six boards.
The JV team improved to 4-1 with a 36-16 win. Smith led the Lady Hornets with nine points and freshman Emma Poirier had 8.
The win improves the Varsity team's record to 4-1. The team will be back in action on Thursday, December 17 as they host Troy.
